REGISTERED!

Every time I go running in the streets of our neighborhood (and the times are many) I am met, no matter where I go, with a stunning view of this:

So in every moment that I struggle up the hills of Topaz and Old Farm and Austin Bluffs, I can see in front of me the hill of all hills in our lovely little Colorado and at some point in those runs, some crazy idea in my oxygen deprived brain prompted me to actually desire to RUN UP THAT CRAZY MOUNTAIN!

Why? I don't know. When I've hiked it in the past, I found myself saying at least once every mile (that's 13 times) going up, "People who run this are crazy! They're just crazy! Not even I'm that crazy!"

Ha. Ha. That's funny.

Because on Wednesday were the registrations to run the Pikes Peak Ascent that takes place every August in Manitou Springs, and the competition to get into the race is usually as fierce as the race itself, but

I REGISTERED TO RUN THE PIKES PEAK ASCENT!!!

Wish me, your crazy friend, luck! Oh yeah, and since for some reason there seems to be a shortage of crazy people wanting to run for 13 straight uphill miles, gaining almost 6000 ft in elevation this year... there's still spaces left. Do you want to come with me?

Time for a trip

So I haven't gone to Utah for....over a week, and I just wished I could go right now and here are some reasons why.

Not to mention the taller, older people I like to visit there as well.

However, these bottom feeders tend to miss my talents and service.

And the prospect of this,

Is keeping my attention fairly well occupied. But the REAL reason is going here,

IN ONLY 11 DAYS!!!!

Just another to make Jamie happy

Well yes, i must admit i NEVER EVER look at the blogs unless someone says something about it. And i NEVER post a blog. This is probably the first one i've ever done in my life. But hey, i thought i would spread some joy and make jamie even more happy and add another post. Its always fun to have more blogs! SOOOO....yes, good good!
A couple of weekends ago Kristar and i went to the Best of EFY! it was so great and i loved it! We had some really great speakers and bro. mclay was one of them. It was kind of weird becuase i was so used to having him as my seminary teacher but then there were hundreds of other youth that it was thier first time to be taught by him. But it was really fun and now im SUPER pumped to go to EFY this summer at BYU!
And.... I love being a trainer! its the greatest thing ever!!!! Our boys basketball team is amazing and last night we played in the sweet 16. We played against Chatfield and totaly kicked thier trash, and won by 19 points! Plus, one of my favorite players, Manny, dunked for the first time, and he got fouled at the same time! It was the coolest thing ever because i was sitting right there on the bench with all of the team; it was first row seats!!!! And then tomorrow we play in the elite 8 up at the dever colosium!

This is me in the training room on a slow day of practice. Thats my little buddy miguel and my bestest of friends, sergio!

And just to make you smile, if you ever wonder what kristar and I do on the best day of our lives......well we be girl friends together and paint our nails and get lip gloss that makes your lips look like claire woodwards!! (not to mention that the best day of our life was on friday the 13th! How ironic is that?!)

Much love,

summeroy

For Jamie

I guess the squeakiest hinge gets the oil. It's not like we don't want to blog, it's just we've been crazy busy. So here are a few movies and pics to enjoy between classes Jame. Hopefully everyone else will enjoy them too. We'll start with Krista and her amazing feat in the school talent show. Her ability to memorize license plates and just her overall good memory. I used to have a memory like a steal trap but now it's like....I can't remember.

After this Kris went on to recite things she's memorized: Bill of Rights, Preamble to the Constitution, scripture mastery, articles of faith, speeches, etc. And the icing on the cake was giving Dad's "What lies behind us..." spiel. The impressive thing was the speed at which they were delivered. It was awesome.

This took so long to load, I don't have time to add more right now. Check back later!!!

I guess Christmas break is a thing of the past. Foster the memories in your heart.
Just a note about the things going down in the Roy's house-

Dad just works I guess. He wrote a nice paper and Sum and mom and I are often entertained by his loud shouts for BABIES and his demand that Baby Brooke or Ally come TOMORROW.

Mom works at the elementary schools and goes for walks and threw a party for the Olympic people. It's cool to hear about the funny 5th graders she talks to. AND she still makes the most magnificent meals ever... look at the bread! She made it!

Summer turned 16! Mom made her a nice fruit sculpture and she got a cool ipod dock thing for her ipod. Grandpa Roy sent a winning card to her! She's still the best trainer for any school in the nation.

Krista exists in a foreign world of thespianage, but it makes for many great stories, and if nothing else, a new adventure! She also went and surprised Coach Schwarz and watched his and his wife's dancing performance. (Sorry, I tried putting a video, but it was a no go. But here's a nice picture, since he is dear to all of our hearts!)

Doug is nice, Sydney is still fat, and Ernie is actually working on his yard! Hello from Colorado!

Are We All Too Scared?

Not but weeks ago I thought to myself, "You know you had a good vacation when it's going to take countless, lenghty blogs to display to the world all the wonder and goodness contained therein- better get right to work!" And yet, dear family, here we live, all 16 participants, pictureless, wonderless, goodnessless, and blogless. What happened? Was it so great that we all got too scared to blog? Was it so cherishable perhaps we try not and therefore corrupt not the coolness thereof? Was it so big and splendid we don't even know where to start? Who will venture forth into uncharted territory of blogs left unwritten and ensure our history is recorded to the internet using world? Whoever the brave soul may be, take courage in the thought that your fellow vacationers-your fellow shotgun shooters, your fellow bowlers, your fellow royfamilychristmaschallengers, your fellow officers, your fellow eaters, and your fellow runners- will soon follow after to record their varying perspectives on the greatest vacation ever if you but first take the leap of blogging faith!

On a different note, here's a post less intimaditing to create, and for the benefit of the tan and lucky Linde parents:

(Or maybe just a little intimidating- babysitting Ally for the past week has been an ambitious undertaking, and it's hard to keep up with this bundle of cute baby fat. ) After a few days at the Roys she...

...has worked harder than Grandbill at the computer...

...composed 4 major symphonies on the piano...

...auditioned for American Idol and other prestigious singing institutions...

...lifted weights and worked out every day...

...and eaten as much, if not more, than her dad!

...And here's a bideo!

Hooray for baby Ally! We're doing our best to keep up with her, and one thing that may sustain us for the rest of this babysitting expenditure is a nice refreshing blog from one of you! (Oh yeah, and vote for Sis. McLay's avocado movie!)

What's been UP?

We've had some fun life highlights lately! I'll do a brief recap.

1)Bill and Krista ran a 5K prediction race before Thanksgiving. I unofficially walked it. It was a great day. We were all about 30 seconds off our predicted finish time but we had a great time anyway. Krista even got Sis Kneble to run with her.

2)We had a great Thanksgiving in Monroe, UT at the Carter's new house. We had 12 people there. 4 Carters, 5 Roys, 2 Nortons and 1 of Eric's old mission buddies. CJ made us a fabulous dinner. We played many a fun game, even games deemed to intelligent for us lowly types(haha), we went bowling and on Saturday all headed to Provo to see Jamie and LaDon and Ally when they got back from Washington. We enjoyed seeing the lights at Temple square. It was a fun time except for the 5 hours it took to get from DIA to home. We're all looking forward to Christmas when we all gather in Colorado Springs!!!!
The "backseat riders" bored after a few hours decided to sit upside down in the car???

3)Bill began a new decade. Thanks for all you inputs for his great gift. He LOVED it and laughed his head off.Happy Birthday!

4)Today Krista ran a half marathon in Pueblo. It was chilly but a beautiful day and Krista PR'd. She ran a 1:41 and won first place for her age group (19 and younger). It was a GREAT race. You can always tell a good runner by how well they can do a farmer blow. Pretty.
