Prediction

What to do on a warm, autumn morning with no papers to grade and a dog wanting to go for a swim? Why, you pack the car full of a bunch of DHS Cross Country buggins and head to Memorial park for a "Prediction" race.

What is a Prediction Race you ask? Well, it is a 5K (3.1 miles) race in which you predict your finish time before you start the race. The race begins with the slowest runner launching first and then each runner leaving when their predicted time shows up on the timer. The object is to finish the race when the timer hits 00:00! There are no watches allowed. Yes, that does mean in theory that all the racers finish at the same time. It's a fun race to watch as you see all the runners starting to pack up toward the end. Krista finished 24 seconds too fast but one of her teammates was only 4 seconds off the mark and won a turkey. The winner finished at 00:00.30!! It was a great morning and a favorite of Doug as you can see in this video--

I think you're a good runner, I think you're cute...

...and I think I like you!!! This was in part a conversation or declaration Krista had in the hall at school today!! Hmmmm.....how do respond to that!!!!

The Fun is Hair!!!

It's Tuesday Night and homework is done, so what do the Roys do?
Their Hair of course!
Summer and Krista did curlers for Kris

And Mom gave dad the traditional plastic haircut!Krista's hair turned out ok, cept for a few curls here and there
But it truly looked its best after she had brushed through it!
(we truly need to get to the root of this problem!)

Wonderful Weekend Whatevers!

Saturday was a busy day for the Roy girls! It started off with the Seminary Social Service Project and happy leaf rakings!

As is tradition, we raked the leaves of our dear old friend, Sis. Peele. We brought some foreigners (Claire Woodward, Marisha Lange, and Kaitlin Botorff are in the pic), and we sure got a handle on service!
We had to leaf then, but before we did, Taryn, Karalee and I documented the moment. Isn't it great to be in the service of your fellow beings?

Afterwards, despite the fact that we had played DDR at 1:00 that morning, Karalee, Bum, and I went for a bike ride. Summer urged the safety, and told us to get some helmets...
.... but we decided we were more concerned with looking good than losing our lives. We need to straighten out our priorites! (Or get new helmets.)
The neighborhoods loved our tandem and Karalee and I felt like we should be engaged... While Bum now has a bruised Bum due to her rock hard one person bike seat. We still had fun and made it through alive despite our helmetless heads.
And we had some good fall times at Keller Park!

Sunday was Stake Conference, where Paude was called as Stake Sunday School Pres. Sarahho and Taryn came over while their parents had lunch with the visiting General Authority and we had Orphan Day.
This is us playing the game where you say a person's name and make the face of how you feel about that person.

This is how we feel about YOU!

Unnamed Seminary Teacher is Spidey

We've promised not to divulge the true identity of this spidey posing with Sarah Griggs and Summer and Krista Roy but, you probably can recognize him by his bulging biceps.

Summer Trainier

This week Summer started as a student athletic trainer. She loves it!! She's learning ankles right now and so I was last night's guinea pig. She did a very good job!!

Much anticipated haircut

As is tradition Krista lets her hair grow out during cross country season so that she can have "lucky braids." She looks forward to getting her hair cut at the end of the season but NOT to the end of the season. This time she decided to let Sister Murdock have free-rein and give her a new look. I like it, but Krista is still getting used to how to do it. These pictures are from the induction ceremony for NHS (they finally let her in) and the cross country banquet where her peers voted her "most inspirational" runner. We were very "ploud."

Mom's Halloween Tradition

My favorite part of Halloween actually falls on November 1st. That's when I'm the first one at the stores and buy a years supply of chocolate! As you can see we get quite a variety of tasty treats. Will it last a year? Not if the last week's consumption is any indication! But we'll end of fat and happy!

Midnight Cookie Making

On the eve of Halloween, Krista and Summer were up late and decided to make some cake batter cookies! They also generously did the dishes, but Krista was freaking out the whole time because she thought it was too loud!
Krista was decoratively dressed in her Halloween spandex pants with the tag still on them! Cake batter cookies are the most amazing, divine, delicious cookies ever! The next morning Krista took the majority of the cookies with her to school for her lunch bunch at the seminary building! They all loved them and ate them in ten seconds!

The pictures are kind of blurry, but this is Summer doing the dishes, trying not to be too loud!
Krista is stiring up a storm in her spandex pants!
We tried to add a sweet video but it did not work so hopefully some time in the future you will be able to see it!

We wanted to be on the Carter's friends list

I don't now how well we will do at keeping this up but we felt left out when we didn't have a blog and couldn't be on the Carter's friends list. So we'll give it a try since we're friends forever. And if we aren't friends then I fear they'd send out they're male members to rough us up!
