Paradise!

At the first of last week, just hours before we stepped on a west bound jet, Doug and I got to enjoy this beautiful scenery.  It was glorious!  I thought, "if this is how the week starts, can it get any better?"
It did!  It went from glorious to PERFECT!!!!

Our days went something like this everyday.  Up for a bacon and egg breakfast, chill and read great books on the beach until noon, adventure in the afternoon, movie in the evening, only to be repeated again the next day. See what I mean?

the Iao State Park on Maui

The Needle.  A war happened here at the confluence of a couple rivers where they said there were so many bodies it clogged the rivers.  Sound familiar?

AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Palm trees, the world's greatest stress relievers.
We went from the palm trees to a white knuckle drive up through the clouds and popped out on the top of the world.  Haleakala, which is over 10,000 feet high. And 30 degrees cooler.

the highest guy on Maui!

Just another day on the beach, with my creative double glasses.  One to read by, one to sun by.
I read on the internet about a hike to a waterfall 6/10 of a mile past mile marker 6.  So we went to investigate.  There was barely a 2 ft by 6 ft hole in the foilage but it opened up to a trail through an amazing bamboo forest.  So cool!

We had to cross this river to get to the falls.

First falls

Second falls

It was super windy and the waves were huge up north.

We enjoyed watching the CRAZY wind surfers.

But mostly, we just loved chillaxing on the beach.

And occasionaly Dad had to "step into his office".  Nice location huh?

But alas, we finally had to give it all up and go home.  But thanks SO MUCH to Uncle Henry and Aunt Marilee for such a great vaca!

But it's not that bad.  Because spring has arrived in all it's glory!

in our back yard.

Lilacs!!!!  by the driveway.

And best of all!  The Carters came to visit and the Linde kids are staying with us for 10 days!!!

Life is perfect!
