What's been UP?

We've had some fun life highlights lately! I'll do a brief recap.

1)Bill and Krista ran a 5K prediction race before Thanksgiving. I unofficially walked it. It was a great day. We were all about 30 seconds off our predicted finish time but we had a great time anyway. Krista even got Sis Kneble to run with her.

2)We had a great Thanksgiving in Monroe, UT at the Carter's new house. We had 12 people there. 4 Carters, 5 Roys, 2 Nortons and 1 of Eric's old mission buddies. CJ made us a fabulous dinner. We played many a fun game, even games deemed to intelligent for us lowly types(haha), we went bowling and on Saturday all headed to Provo to see Jamie and LaDon and Ally when they got back from Washington. We enjoyed seeing the lights at Temple square. It was a fun time except for the 5 hours it took to get from DIA to home. We're all looking forward to Christmas when we all gather in Colorado Springs!!!!
The "backseat riders" bored after a few hours decided to sit upside down in the car???

3)Bill began a new decade. Thanks for all you inputs for his great gift. He LOVED it and laughed his head off.Happy Birthday!

4)Today Krista ran a half marathon in Pueblo. It was chilly but a beautiful day and Krista PR'd. She ran a 1:41 and won first place for her age group (19 and younger). It was a GREAT race. You can always tell a good runner by how well they can do a farmer blow. Pretty.

Florida Trip

Watching that just makes me tired!! How about you? Yes, that is a 90 degree, 200 feet straightdown drop. And was it enough that they rode it once, NO, they rode it no less than 5 times!! Let's just say we had a great time at Busch Gardens. It was Halloween day and we had NO lines and beautiful weather. PERFECT!

We had a great stay at Grandpa Roy's house and he got to meet two of his great- granddaughters. A fun time was had by all even though we had to leave early cause the flights were filling up. Everyone made it home except Vic who got stuck overnight in Chicago. It was worth it because as I was comfy in the USO, the rest of the fam was trying to fit 2 car seats and 4 adult sized people into a rental car for 4!

As you can see there were many highlights to the trip, but Krista and Bill had a great time running in a 5K called the Pumpkin run. Krista was the overall winner of ALL women!
Thanks for such a great weekend Grandpa Roy!

Dinner Table laugh

Brooke was happily sitting on Summer's lap after dinner when suddenly Summer yanks Brooke up and puts her on the ground. Talk about lightning moves! I said, "what's wrong?" Just as Summer said, "oh, I guess you weren't farting." Turns out Summer's phone that was in the front pocket of her hoodie was just vibrating! HAHAHAHAHAHA The joys of being an Aunt.

Life Dreams

I'm all about being prolific and accomplishing great things, and though I feel as if I could blog about any number of successes we've had in the Roy family these past couple months, I feel greater about today's accomplishment than most any other because it's been a life dream. Oh, by the way, I've had five main ones since about 2 years ago:

Pray around the flagpole

Wear a skirt to school

Stick gum under a desk

Run a race in all 50 states

Learn how to tap dance

You can check off the first and the second, both wonderful experiences, I'm 1/10th of the way done with the fourth, and not even close to accomplishing the fifth, (but at least I have the shoes and a Tap with Ginger instructional video.) But how bout that third one? Well, last night I told CJ that goal and she said I should do it today, so as i walked out the door I put a piece of Trident gum in my mouth, determined to do so, but only slightly sad becasue I thought it'd be so much better and victorious with a big hunk of dubble bubble or bubbilicious. So I went to my third period class, not thinking that my life would change while there, but providence then smiled upon me! Sitting on the floor next to my desk was a piece of wrapped dubble bubble gum!!! While typically I'd be apprehensive to partake of such a thing, I popped it right in and prepared to live life to the fullest!

HA!

(the pink one is mine. Obviously I'm not a pioneer in this goal)

I did it, and even right before my dear friend Bailey Anderson tried to dissuade me by spititng off the Thirteenth Article of faith, but I told her no rule ever said you couldn't do it and so I wasn't being dishonest, distrue, dischaste, disbenevolent, disvirtuous or disdoinggoodtoallmen. So indeed I may say I follow the admonition of accomplishing life goals, and if you've got 'em.... STICK to it!!!

SURPRISE!!!

For the month of October Jamie is 3 of 4 sisters when it comes to great surprises, the kind of surprise that ellicts screams of joy. She flew in Thursday night unbeknownst to her sisters and she surprised them a good one; Krista as she got out of the shower and Summer as she came home from a football game. I didn't capture it on film but they were classic!

We had a GREAT weekend!!! Here's a few of the highlights.

Krista and the awesome Doherty Spartans made it to the State 5A cross country championships. They didn't run as they expected as a team but Krista had a great race and finished out her Spartan career on a high note.
Krista's the one in the middle

There were a couple of cute spectator's cheering Krista on:

Ally of the long eyelashes

And Grandpa Norton and Summer(Jamie and I were there too but we didn't make the cut for pictures) This is what happens to your sanity if you run too much!!!!

We got home just in time for the Cross country end of year banquet. It was nice and Krista was voted by her peers to receive the Spartan award. It's the coolest cause it's the kid that encompass all that it takes to be a Spartan, sport achievement, academics, enthusiasm, team unity, leadership, and the list goes on. Way to go Krista, you deserve it!!!!!

After the race we went to Grandma March's and took a five generation picture. She's doing okay. Just imagine me in a place I didn't want to be....not too pretty. But we had a great visit. Summer has decreed that she wants to be shot at age 70!!! I'll have to keep an eye out for Summer in about 20 years!

Thanks Jamie and LaDon for a GREAT surprise filled weekend. (LaDon's surprise was he didn't starve to death! haha)

Mom's Garage Sale 3

Saturday was ward service day so I stayed home and served us. Selfish, yeah, kind of, but we haven't cleaned the garage in a long time. How long? This chore hadn't been done since Dad was called as Bishop. There were piles of stuff, left unchanged, for almost 7 years!!!! The garage looks much better. This stuff was not in the garage but is available to whoever wants it family, friends, acquaintances, strangers, etc.

1. These are table cloths from the 1950s, vintage you might say. They fit a card table. It's so when the ladies come over for bridge you can present a lovely table......barf me. Way at the top are two tablecloths(blue and peach) with matching designs just different color schemes. The second set down is a daisy theme with 4 napkins. The third one down has a duck theme with 4 blue and 4 maroon napkins and 2 blue/2 maroon bread basket napkins? They're bigger than the others. Maybe that's for really sloppy guests. The bottom won has 4 print napkins and 4 with just a stripe. All of these are made of fine linen. I don't quite get why there's eight napkins and a table cloth made for a card table???? Maybe people liked to sit REAL close in those days.
2. The top item is a gingham curtain. Next down is a cool table runner that is 2 feet by 6 feet. It might be a shawl too, not sure. It'd be a good pioneer wrap. Don't know where it came from. On the bottom on the left is a bread basket napkin with a peacock that is tatted on it. In the middle is a tablecloth and 8 napkins like the red ones advertised a few weeks ago. This one is beige, ecru, khaki in color. On the right is a cotton table cloth that has a yellow/oranage stripe on the two long sides with a hibiscus sort of motif. It's about 5feet by 4 feet.
3. These are the easter baskets Great Grandma Lenhart made for you.
4. These are just random baskets, an egg painter holder (the pink bunny) and a very cool Easter FHE lesson thing(If more than one person wants this I'll make more)
5. Take them one, take them all...ace wraps
6.Two boxes of perm curlers and a bag of very old fashioned curlers that get stuck in your hair if you don't watch out
7. Sleeping bags. Adequate but not great.
8. Elise Allen or Summer Roy, great for babysitting.
9. Krista Roy, very funny with big eyes.
Let me know cause these will make the trip to the ARC in a week. Not number 8 or 9 though.

Fantastic Fall Foilage Follies

On Saturday between Conference sessions (while maybe a little longer than "between") we headed to the hills cause all week long the aspens were calling to us. We could see them sprinkled on the mountains like glittering ornaments and we just had to see them up close and personal. Here's a few pics from our outing.

Making it rain "gold"

A re-creation of a favorite pic.

We certainly found ourselves in awe and grateful for our beeuooteeful world.

Spartans Rock

Doherty's Varsity girl's top 5 finished in the top 16 and all 7 Varsity girl's finished in the top 25 of the Spartan Invitational yesterday. Dang good, huh!
